SO Far Soooo Good.....Update

Hey guys,

Ok let me apologize for being M.I.A. for the last few months. I have had so much going on that both of my blogs took a back seat :( ...BUT!! Im back...(not sure for how long)...but here we go!

This an update from my post SO Far So Good.....I mentioned in that blog that I entered a contest called BEACON where I had to create a marketing project that would help promote my business beyond hair school. Well I found out on my birthday that ......I WON!!! woo hoo.  That was one of the best b-day gifts ever!!

Myself along with 199 other students across the U.S. were picked to attend a once in a life time event at the 2011 COSMO PROF North American Beauty show!!



 The event includes a trip to Las Vegas for 4 days & 3 nights to learn the business side of the industry taught by successful hair stylist, & beauty industry entrepreneurs. We also get to attend the NAHA Hairstyling awards (Oscars of hairstyling) as well as the beauty trade show! I don't think its actually hit me yet (the magnitude of the event) but God is faithful & I'm so happy.  I leave for the event this Friday....keep me in your prayers...ill try my best to keep you guys updated while I'm there!

1/2 year anniversary of being relaxer free!

Ok so i've been relaxer free for 6 months now and my hair is beginning to change! Ive been trying to transition to natural with out doing the "Big Chop" but tonight that may change. Of course im not going to go "fade/bald" short but I am cutting all of my split/dead ends off. I noticed how my hair has shedded tremendously and broke off due to the adjustment of no relaxer :( The texture of my hair is also changing which is making my hair less manageable. Soon I will be putting th LaBrasiliana Keratin treatment on my hair so im excited about keeping in healthy and straight. I avent been taking care of natural hair like im suppose to because my life has been crazy busy and because of that i have to cut some of it off tonight :( wish me luck!  Ill keep you posted on my journey :)

Product pic of the week is a leave-in conditioner made by it's a 10! I just tried this stuff 2 weeks ago on a few of my clients and I'm in love! Not only is the product weightless, but it provides a shine to the hair and adds keratin (protein) at the same time. This product is made for all hair textures!! I would recommend using this product immediately after washing the hair. Only 2 quarter size amounts is needed to cover the entire hair.  remember---->(a little goes a long way).  try it!

Ok ladies...the spring is here~ so that means its sandals & open-toe shoes time! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! PLEASE!! take care of your feet during this time of year! Wearing sandals, flat shoes, flip flops will cause your feet to be more exposed and open to dryness and hardening of the bottom of your feet. So lets keep those heels oiled, and dry skin off :) Annnnnnd...lets not forget your 10-little piggies...lol! Add some color to those toes!!!! (In my opinion) there is nothing more physically elegant about a woman...than her hands and feet. Trust me ladies, when we are checking for a man...we look directly at his shoes & clothes & when a man is checking for us he is looking directly at our hair and nails...lol!  So lets stay on our A-game as the seasons change. I do pedicures & manicures at the school....3 days a week...call me if you need me...913-782-4004 :)

I absolutely LOVE denim blazers :) They are cute, chic and can be paired with anything! Im n a mad hunt for one as we speak..I think I may find what Im looking for....just not in KC...lol!

Ahhh...God is so Good & so Faithful! I can honestly say he has kept through it all!!! I'm so excited to be more than half way done with hair school! Everything is going great in school. I just entered the BEACON contest w/ a chance to win an all expense paid trip for selected students to attend a 3-day hair training! That would literally be a dream come true if i won :) One of the requirements for the contest was to create a marketing piece to promote my portfolio &  the services I offer. WELL (drum roll please)....lol!  I created a web-site....woo hoo! check it out! www.myhairtherapy.com  I did it all by myself and I'm so proud of the work i did :) ...In no form am I  tech savvy person so working on this web-site truly pushed me out my comfort zone :) "Being comfortable is easy, but outside of your comfort zone is where progress is made"-T.woods original....lol..

Im ready to  add some color to my closet! I wasn't a big fan of bright colored suede shoes before...but after seeing the new spring collections from On-line shoe shopping it seems to be a hot trend. I may have to add some spice to my shoes by copping the green suede pumps...they are super DOPE!

White Nail polish

I love white nail polish on other people...but im too afraid to try it on myself :(  White nail polish always gives a fresh look for a new season. Whit polish was the nail color pick for last summer, and I was to chicken to try it then. It just might be my color pick for the spring.....hmmmm...if i get bold enough ill post pics...Lol!

Middle Parts are a Trend that keeps on Trending :)

I Love middle parts :) whenever i get tired of wearing the side bang i switch it p with a middle part. :) try it!

Relalxed vs. Natural::For transitioning ladies



Here lately I have received a few questions about going natural without doing the "Big chop" (cutting the relaxed ends off.) ....Well going natural is not easy for everyone especially for those who relax their hair every 4-6 weeks.  Here is some things that i would recommend before going natural.

-Explore the reasons why you want to go natural

- How dedicated are you to dealing with potentially frustrating hair

-Are you willing to commit to taking care of you hair on a daily basis?

-How often are you willing to snip-away relaxed ends?

There are a lot of things to consider when going natural. You have to get to know your hair, & your new growth....you also have to find a product that work well with your hair to help moisturize your hair and keep it healthy during your transition. Please be aware that going natural IS NOT EASY! You have to give you hair at least 4 months to begin to see a significant amount of new growth. "PATIENCE is a VIRTUE" because you are going to need it.

Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray

 I adore all of Moroccanoil's products they are simply amazing. If you havent tried their oil treatment you should try it, its anazing. I use the oil treatment on my hair before I blow-dry.... I use it as a heat protectant and  a conditioner before I begin the blow-drying process. Its weightless, and you can use it on any hair texture without the oily residue look & feel. Just remember that a little bit goes a long way, not much oil is needed.  Moroccanoil has another product that I just used for the first time and I feel in love with it...its the Luminous Hairspray. This hairspray is not sticky, has a weightless hold, and gives a shine to the hair with no residue or flaking after you spray. This product can also be used on any hair type....so try it & let me know what you think!

Shellac-in-it UP!!!

What is Shellac?? Shellac is a traditional nail polish & UV Gel Polish used to create an overlay on your natural nail. Unlike soak off gels it comes in a polish bottle and it cures & dries under a UV Lamp, There is no BUFFING & NO DAMAGE done to the natural nail.....
So I got the oppurtunity to try the Shellac Nail Polish & I'm in Love. I wanted to see what all the rave was about the new "gel nail craze" that supposedly lasts for 14 days. It just so happen that we were studying sculptured nails that week in school so my teacher used me as a demo for the shellac! Not only was I happy to be the model, but the service was fre! woo hoo! lol!

The color that was used for my nails was the CND Rouge Red and I loved it.
The process was a tad bit tedious but quick! Today is day:12 and my nails are still shiny & smooth w/ no cips in my nail paint :)  I give the CND shellac two thimbs UP!! Going next week to get it donr again ;)

Ive been crazy busy lately and havent been able to blog!  But I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
